Today, missiles were fired from Iran towards Israel and the IDF has stated that it is putting its "defensive systems in place" to protect itself from air attack.

The IDF has also placed restrictions on citizens access to certain areas because of security concerns and advised citizens to immediately take shelter in safe locations.

CNN is reporting that police officers in Tel Aviv are monitoring a large number of people who may have been affected by the firing of either rockets and mortars. According to local law enforcement, the multiple locations where the rockets have landed are all being secured by bomb disposal teams and area law enforcement and so far no one has been killed as a result of these attacks.

Separately, there was an explosion in Bahrain (the capital of Bahrain) this morning, according to AFP (Agence France-Presse).

Bahrain authorities reported that they have intercepted 125 missiles and 203 drones that have flown over the region during Iranian missile strikes, and that two people were killed by these attacks in Bahrain, with 24 other people being killed in other Middle East country attacks.

The increased violence in the Middle East demonstrates how dangerous and unstable the area has now become. The reason for this increased risk is that not only have many military installations (made up of missile launchers or bases) come under missile and drone fire, but ordinary people also are now at great risk from those same missiles and drones being used against targets that don't involve civilians.

The fact that many attacks have been intercepted by the defense systems. But doesn't change the fact that there is still a large amount of fear, destruction and loss of life. It also indicates how quickly this type of conflict can grow to involve other countries in the region and ultimately make it more difficult to achieve peace and stability. For these reasons, diplomatic discussions and cooperation among all parties involved to lower tensions and avoid additional forms of violence are necessary.
